On Oct. 26, Ripple announced at the Swell 2026 conference an extension of Ripple Treasury, adding an orchestration layer that connects GSmart AI to cash flow forecasting, reconciliation, liquidity management, and payment workflows. Alongside this, Ripple introduced 24/7 Returns for eligible corporate clients, allowing them to earn yield on select digital assets held in Ripple wallets, including the RLUSD stablecoin.

Ripple Treasury is built on the systems of GTreasury, a software company acquired by Ripple for $1 billion in 2025. The upgrade expands the platform from analysis and recommendations to workflow orchestration and execution, though Ripple has not disclosed the yield generation mechanism or the availability scope of 24/7 Returns.

Ripple’s Always-On Treasury Upgrade

The update announced on Oct. 26 moves cash management tasks on Ripple Treasury into a more continuous process. The new orchestration layer connects cash flow forecasting, reconciliation, cash positioning, liquidity management, and payments, thereby reducing the number of manual handoffs between systems for treasury teams.

When the platform detects a potential cash shortfall for an entity, forecasting results can be converted into a funding proposal and passed to approval or execution steps. The proposal is then passed to approval or execution steps.

Transactions can subsequently be routed through traditional banking rails or digital rails depending on the case. This approach aims to process payments outside banking hours and shorten cross-border transfer times. Ripple has not disclosed the list of integrated payment rails, fully supported markets, or the proportion of transactions that can be completed 24/7.

AI Moves From Insight to Execution

A notable change in this update is the ability for certain workflows to run without requiring employee approval at each step. GSmart previously focused primarily on analyzing treasury data, detecting anomalies, and recommending actions. When connected to the new orchestration layer, those recommendations can proceed directly into funding or payment workflows.

Clients can choose between manual, semi-autonomous, and fully autonomous modes for each workflow. The latter mode allows the system to execute the entire workflow if transactions fall within configured limits. Core financial calculations are still handled by a deterministic rules engine, while AI reads policies and explains the rationale behind actions, according to Ripple’s description.

This auto-execution capability differs from the GSmart announcement in September 2026, when the company emphasized that humans would still approve all financial actions. Ripple has not specified which transaction types are permitted to run fully automatically, applicable transaction value limits, which clients have enabled this mode, or the handling procedure when the system executes an action incorrectly.

24/7 Returns Leaves Its Yield Structure Undisclosed

24/7 Returns was introduced by Ripple for eligible corporate clients, allowing them to earn yield on select digital assets in Ripple wallets, including RLUSD. The product targets idle operational cash held overnight, on weekends, and during holidays. Clients do not need to self-manage the underlying digital asset transactions.

In its product roadmap released in April 2026, Ripple mentioned plans to offer 24/7 yield on idle cash through overnight repos. However, the new announcement does not confirm whether 24/7 Returns utilizes this structure or disclose how client assets are deployed.

Yield rates, fees, minimum balance requirements, and withdrawal timelines have not been disclosed. Ripple has also not identified execution transaction partners, loss-handling mechanisms, markets where the product is currently offered, or client eligibility criteria. Lacking this information, corporates cannot yet compare after-fee yields, capital accessibility, and risks of 24/7 Returns against bank deposits or money-market funds.

Corporate Cash Opportunity Behind Ripple’s Push

The Association for Financial Professionals’ 2026 liquidity survey showed that 46% of organizations increased their cash holdings in the U.S. as of March 2026, up from 38% a year earlier. The survey collected responses from more than 300 treasury professionals and noted that three-quarters of organizations maintain written investment policies.

Approximately 86% of respondents indicated they would consider a money-market fund capable of providing real-time liquidity if the product complied with their investment policies. Ripple cited these two metrics in its 24/7 Returns announcement, even though survey responses pertained to money-market funds rather than directly reflecting demand for stablecoins.

Digital asset adoption in corporate treasury remains low. Only 1% of surveyed organizations currently use or test stablecoins and tokenized products, while another 9% are actively exploring them. Results show corporate interest in continuous liquidity access, but do not yet show a corresponding readiness to migrate operational cash to stablecoins.

The $1 billion acquisition of GTreasury in 2025 provided Ripple with an existing corporate client base. According to company-released figures, the platform serves over 1,000 clients across 160 countries and supports approximately $13 trillion in payment volume in 2025. Ripple has not disclosed how many clients are eligible for or currently using 24/7 Returns.

RLUSD Faces a Regulatory and Adoption Test

Incorporating RLUSD into 24/7 Returns adds a regulatory consideration for Ripple’s new product. The stablecoin is issued by Standard Custody & Trust Company, a Ripple subsidiary holding a limited-purpose trust charter from the New York Department of Financial Services. RLUSD is approved for issuance in New York. Ripple did not mention in the announcement whether 24/7 Returns requires or has received additional regulatory approvals.

Ripple’s dashboard recorded approximately 2.3828 billion RLUSD in circulation and $2.528 billion in reserves on Oct. 22. The most recent attestation report listed as of the check on Oct. 27 covers August figures, meaning newer dashboard numbers are not yet reflected in published independent reports.

Under the GENIUS Act, permitted payment stablecoin issuers may not pay interest or yield solely for holding, using, or maintaining payment stablecoins. Whether this restriction applies will depend on the paying entity, the yield source, and the transaction structure of 24/7 Returns.

Ripple has not disclosed the yield-paying entity, asset onboarding structure, or loss allocation method should underlying transactions encounter failures. In the absence of this information, corporations cannot fully assess how the product is treated under regulations, asset withdrawal and redemption capabilities, or its alignment with internal investment policies.
