Google has introduced major changes to Gmail by adding Gemini 3, its latest artificial intelligence (AI) model.

The update changes Gmail from a simple email service into a more helpful assistant that can organize information and complete small tasks.

The new version of Gmail no longer just lists emails by time. Instead, it sorts messages into groups based on what seems most important.

It can also include a short “Catch me up” section that highlights recent updates such as deliveries, meeting times, and purchase details. Google says these features use on-device processing to keep user data private and to enable quick access.

Blake Barnes, Google’s vice president of product, said:

This is us delivering on Gmail proactively having your back.

The “Help Me Write” tool is also getting wider access. Once available only to paying customers, it is now available to everyone. The feature suggests draft emails that better match the user’s writing tone and style.

These improvements are being released first in the United States. Some tools, including thread summaries and the updated writing assistant, are free for all users.

However, advanced features, such as asking Gmail direct questions across your inbox, are still only available to subscribers of Google AI Pro or Ultra.

Amazon recently launched Alexa.com, which lets users chat with Alexa+ through a browser. How does it work? Read the full story.
